If you purchased the collision damage waiver (CDW) prior to check-out all you have to do is point out the damage to the rental representative and that’s all. Note that the CDW is a waiver of financial liability for any damages on the rental vehicle. The CDW is NOT insurance and does NOT cover for damage(s) to third-party vehicles and property. Even with purchase of the optional CDW, you must still provide valid and current auto insurance policy information for purposes of liability and state law compliance.

If you did NOT purchase the CDW prior to checkout then you must fill out a quick form describing the damage and where/how it occurred. From there it will be filed with the claims department of the insurance policy you provided. The renter is fully responsible for all damages that occur while in your possession.
